The Languages of Yoga: Learning at the Source in Varanasi is a nine-day immersive retreat designed primarily for yoga teachers who want to teach with greater clarity, confidence, and linguistic integrity. Set in Varanasi (Kāśī), this immersion supports teachers — especially those teaching in English as an Additional Language (EAL) — to refine their English cueing skills while developing an accessible and respectful relationship with Sanskrit, the original language of yoga. Through daily yoga practice, practical English-language pedagogy, foundational Sanskrit study, mantra, and cultural immersion on the banks of the Ganga, participants learn how language shapes teaching, embodiment, and understanding. This immersion is not about mastery or performance, but about teaching yoga clearly and authentically, informed by lived experience at the source of the tradition. Who is this event for? This immersion is for yoga teachers who want to strengthen their teaching through clearer, more confident use of language. It is especially suited to teachers who work in English as an Additional Language (EAL) and wish to improve how they cue movement, explain breath and anatomy, and communicate yoga philosophy in accessible, modern English. It is also for teachers who want to use Sanskrit with greater understanding and cultural respect, without academic pressure or intimidation. No prior Sanskrit study is required, only a commitment to learning, practice, and teaching with integrity. Teachers: Amalia Safi (Yoga for English) and Elena Jessup (3rd Eye Sanskrit). Programme curated by Mystic Arts Retreats.
