This course continues where GCSE Sanskrit 1 leaves off. We will finish sandhi, learn about compound words, and tackle advanced grammar. We will also finish the GCSE set texts and cover the five units of Epic Civilization. The aim of this course is that by December 2027 you should be ready to translate texts for yourself. There will be an hour and a half of homework every week. There is no obligation to take the examination. This course runs for a year, divided into three terms of ten hour-long live lessons on Zoom. All sessions will be recorded. Lessons will be on Thursday evenings from 19.00-20.00 UK time. Term 1: Jan. 8 2026 - Mar. 26 2026 excluding Feb. 12 and Mar. 12 Term 2: Apr. 23 2026 - Jul. 2 2026 excluding May 28 Term 3: Sept. 17 2026 - Nov. 26 2026 excluding Oct. 22 (Half term dates may change if necessary) Prerequisite: Reading the Devanāgarī script and experience of basic Sanskrit grammar.
